Job Description
1 WTE GRADE V, Permanent
HIPE is a health information system designed to collect demographic, clinical and administrative information on discharges and deaths from acute hospitals nationally.
The hospital is seeking applications from qualified coders to compete for the role of Grade V HIPE Clinical Coder.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must:
• Have completed the HIPE Clinical Coder Mandatory Training for HIPE Clinical Coders with the
Healthcare Pricing Office HSE.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-AM 12th Edition, ACS and ICS
• Have comprehensive Knowledge of Australian and Irish Coding Standards.
• Have experience in an Acute Hospital in the role of HIPE Clinical Coder.
• Have a sound understanding of the HIPE / ABF process within a Hospital setting
• Have the requisite knowledge and skills to use all functions on the HIPE Portal.
• Be competent in the use of the HIPE Coding Audit Tools (HIPE Coding Auditing Tool Kit (HCAT) &
Checker.)
• Possess the requisite skills and knowledge required to engage with Clinicians on all HIPE Coding and
ABF related matters.
• Have a high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative
• Have excellent organisational and planning skills
Desirable
• Hold TU Dublin HIPE Certification
