Other Hospital Committees

Hospital Management Group (HMG)

This group reports directly to the Council.  It is responsible for the day to day administration of the hospital, meeting the targets agreed with the HSE in terms of service provision within the allocated budget.  The HMG meets once every two weeks.

Members are the following:

  • Chief Executive Officer
  • Medical Director
  • Director of Finance and Organisation Services
  • Deputy C.E.O. and Director of Nursing
  • Director of Operations and Human Resources
  • Director of Education and Research.

Medical Board

The Medical board comprises of all Consultants who have completed their one year probation period. The Board elects a chairman from among their members to hold office for three years and may be re-elected for a further three years.  To qualify for chairman’s position, a consultant must have been in the employment of the hospital for at least three years. Meetings are held monthly.

The Medical Board makes recommendations on the following to Council:

  • Medical Education
  • Medical Policy and Development
  • Medical Staffing and Appointments
  • Interns, House Officers and Registrars
  • Medical Students
  • Other matters as may be determined by the council.
